Children's Mental Health Week
Friday 29 January 2021
Children’s Mental Health Week will take place next week (1 st – 5th February). The week is set up by children’s mental health charity, Place2Be, and shines a spotlight on the importance of children and young people’s mental health. At Ark Conway our aim is always to promote both mental and physical health & well-being for all our students and this event will allow us to open up the conversation about maintaining good mental health, now and in the future.
We are also excited to show our support for the Place2Be charity which has directly benefited several students at our school through the Place2Be and Place2Talk programmes.
Over the course of the week, children’s learning will be focused around this year’s theme:
Children will have opportunities throughout the week to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. They will be reminded that being able to express yourself is not about being the best at something or putting on a performance but about finding a way to show who you are, and how you see the world, that can help you feel good about yourself.
Dress to Express!
All week we will be encouraging pupils and staff to wear their favourite colour clothing to express how they are feeling. We would love to see as many brightly coloured clothes as possible! This will be a great opportunity for us to encourage self-expression and celebrate diversity.
Daily Well-Being Challenges
Every morning, teachers will post a daily Well-Being Challenge for pupils on the Teams page. These are activities specifically designed to promote good mental and physical well-being – and hopefully be lots of fun too! We would love for you to join your child in completing these challenges.
There will lots of other activities going on throughout the school day for your child to look forward to. We would absolutely love to see photos of ways in which our pupils are embracing CMHW so please do email any photos to the school office.
