Great News! Ark Primary schools win School Fitness Award for PE Programme
Ark Conway and Ark Bentworth primary schools have just won a prestigious award for their physical fitness programme.
The 2016 Education Resources organisation presented the ‘Whole Curriculum Subject Resource of the Year’ award to the PE programme Champions, inspired by and developed in cooperation with Rising Stars and the Ark schools network.
The programme offers a holistic approach to the teaching of PE, teaches sports, improves fitness and deepens knowledge of health and wellbeing to primary school children. Champions has equipped the pupils with a much greater awareness of healthy lifestyles and how they can develop stronger, healthier bodies, look after themselves well and make decisions that will have an impact.
"We are seeing children active for longer periods of time,” said Damian McBeath, Regional Director of Primary (London). “They are eating healthier food; engaging in discussions about how they can keep themselves healthy; and developing a love for sports and games.”
Many schools in the UK don’t have specialist PE teachers, so Champions seeks to make it easy for all teachers to run outstanding PE classes.
