Parental engagement and home learning
We would like to share with you our updated approach to involving parents and guardians in the learning our pupils are doing. We have made these improvements based on feedback from parents, so thank you, as always, for this. We are also aware that, despite the challenging times of lockdown, many parents valued being able to see more of the content of their child’s lessons and so this is something we would like to build on.
Drop in times
We are aware that it is not always possible to speak to staff at the start and end of the day if they are with children or other parents. Therefore, please find below the times that staff will be available for meetings with parents every week. If you would like to book in for one of these 10-minute meeting times, please contact the school office.

Half Termly Exhibitions
Each half term, you will be invited to an exhibition that your child is part of with their class. For example, this may be a class assembly or a visit to their classrooms and will usually be at the start or the end of the school day to make it easier for parents to be able to attend. You will be informed with as much notice as possible of these and we would be delighted to welcome you into school to find out more about what your child has been learning – I know your children will be very proud to share this too.
Topic web
Each half term, you will receive a ‘Topic Web’ which will contain further information regarding what your child will be learning in school during the coming half term and any upcoming class events. This can be found here, on Seesaw and also a printed version will be sent home too so you can refer to this regularly.
Home Learning –Seesaw
Each Friday your child’s online Seesaw account will be updated with a new post that includes:
- Home Learning Question, to be completed for the following Friday (this can be uploaded to Seesaw or you can bring this into school)
- Mathletics link, to be completed at home during the week
- New spellings, to be practiced and these will be tested on the following Friday
- School newsletter for your child to read
Home Learning – Bookbags
Each Friday, your child will receive the following items in their bookbag:
- Spelling test results from that week (Y1 –Y6)
- Reading books
- Phonics books (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2)

Online Safety Parent Workshop
We recently held our Parent workshop on Online safety in order to provide our community with a proactive approach for safe internet use and encouraging our children to be responsible citizens online. Below is a recording of a similar meeting which took place during the 2020/21 academic year.
