Year 3 Trip to the Dickens Museum

This half term Year 3 (Lewis Class) are studying Victorian Britain, including the works of Charles Dickens.  Pupils had a fantastic trip yesterday to the Dickens Museum in Central London.  They really enjoyed the creative notebook making workshop which introduced the basics of traditional book binding.  They used old fashioned stamps and quill pens and ink to explore the methods of writing and printing used in the Victorian period and found out who Dickens was and how he wrote.

Here's what the children said about the trip:

"I liked it when we got to dress up as Charles Dickens' servants" Rahel

"I liked making our own book" Rafe

I found it interesting that Charles Dickens had a special toilet chair" Ollie
